Catalina is the woman we met at the clinic with her face in bandages, who was distraught and love lorn, over Ligero/Lucien.
In her repeated exclamations that their love was never to be, she claimed he beat and scratched her face to destroy her beauty, so as to no longer tempt Liego. That she has beaten her own belly to kill the child she had within her and that was conceived by her and Ligero’s lust
While dressed as a nun we found out from Maria, that she was not a nun, but a midwife...or posed as one. She may or may not have taken vows as something akin to a lay sister.
She also may have been married.
She does seem to have had an affair with a Ligero though how involved they were she doesn't know.
It is possible she has killed several children but Maria is hesitant to turn her over to authorities as she promised sanctuary and is not sure the allegations are true.
It was Catalina who gave Lucien the “Guns of Light” and “Aztec Astronaut” box with the remaining shells for the guns.
She is currently staying at the clinic with Maria.
