Brookdale Retirement Home
Brookdale Retirement Center is just outside Bethlehem Florida, not too far across the border and west of center.
The request is coming in from a Lisa Young, calling at the request of a former tenant, Bernice Addington, who is 91.
She claims witches are running the retirement home, stole her belongings, and are killing people there.
She is currently staying sharing a trailer with her daughter who is looking to have her put into a state run nursing home but is on a waiting list.
Lisa Young is a state care family service worker.
For Lisa's part, she will explain after Bernice had been staying in the private facility and Bernice's insurance quit paying and she was essentially evicted. Brookdale told Lisa they had tried to return Bernice's things but Bernice and her daughter refused to take them saying that she would be back. Eventually Brookdale, though they tried to accommodate her, needed the space, gave Bernice a last warning, and had her things thrown out.
Bernice's more "paranormal" claims to prove they are witches:
She saw a tall ghostly pale alien looking woman there once.
There was an infestation of maggots.
Milk spoiled while she was drinking it.
The staff is nearly all female.
A retired sheriff moved in and on that same day a cat ran into his room, and she never saw him again.
She saw Daniel on tv and hasn't stopped demanding someone call.

Brookdale says that Bernice passed away after wandering off the property. Though they don't normally prorate in these circumstances, they understood that her daughter Martha had recently lost her job and they waved the normal contract fees even though they didn't need to because they didn't want her to be burdened with the expense.
Brookdale faxed the PI a copy of the police report confirming she had been found deceased. According to the report Bernice appeared to have fallen and struck her head.
PI could find no state issued death certificate, obituary, or funeral notice.

PI attempted to call Martha but was Martha did not answer or return calls.
Martha had been working as a cashier at local Big Lots which would normally not offer the level of insurance required to keep her mother in such a facility as Brookdale.

Seem to have operated at near capacity consistently for the last ten years.
Staff turnover appears to be very low which is unusual for that line of work.
Brookdale does not report resident turnover rates.
Facility operates independently but is part of the Brookdale Senior Living Network and merged with Emeritus Senior Living and became the only national full-spectrum senior living company. In total they have over 1,100 communities in 46 states.
Brookdale Senior Living Network is 51% owned by Fortress Investment Group which was founded by Wesley Edens in 1998 and is also a co-founder of the Milwaukee Bucks. His hobbies include horse jumping and mountain climbing.
Fortress Investment Group also holds a controlling stake in "Integrated Insurance Brokerage" which offers life, retirement, and health insurance in north Florida.
Integrated Insurance Brokerage did not return calls. The PI could find no address for the company. Filings all list the company as operating out of the Caymen Islands. No financial information was available.
Wesley Edens' mother Barbara made the news when she was shot and killed in early 2019 by police after allegedly attacking a young woman in a park in New York City. She as 85 years old. The officer after an internal investigation was fired. He reportedly shot her eight times claiming she kept coming at him despite warnings to stop.
Wesley Edens is currently married to Lynn Edens but made tabloid headlines some years ago when he was rumored to be in a relationship with a model with ectodermal dysplasia.
