Chapter One: the Montgomery Estate Empty
PostSubject: Chapter One: the Montgomery Estate    Chapter One: the Montgomery Estate EmptyMon Mar 25, 2019 10:21 pm

Thursday morning Percival wakes up at his regular time, and prepares to drive to North Carolina to examine and estimate the value of a private book collection, owned by Nathanial Montgomery.

Percival leaves at the time he would be heading to work so that he can arrive with plenty of daylight, and establish his living occomdations while on the job.

Arriving in a small town about nine miles from the estate, Percival stops to get gas. While he does he hears some derogatory comments made towards himself, then a local sheriff approaches him and begins to berate him with homophobic slurs.

Another man across the street begins yelling about smearing peanut butter on the sheriff, which attracts the sheriffs attention and pulls him away from hasseling Percival.

After finishing filling up the gas tank of his car Percival drives away toward some the Montgomery estate.

Driving up the long dirt drive to the estate, Percival hits a deceptively large pothole, which was filled with water, but luckily doesn’t pop a tire or break the cars suspension. After stopping to check that everything is okay with his vehicle he continues up the drive.

Arriving at the estate proper, he sees that it has not been well maintained, as the grounds are extremely overgrown, and the exterior of the house needs some repair and painting.

He parks his car, and knocks on the door. Which is eventually answered by an elderly woman in a Nun’s habit and which causes Percival to winch as he remembers his days in catholic school.

The Nun curtly informs him where the library is located, and where he can reside in the house while there, then she leaves him to continue her duties.

Percival climbs the steps to the second floor and takes a corner bedroom, then begins to examine then library.

While Percival takes a quick catalogue of the library, noting its organization and takes a rough estimate of the number of books in the collection, others begin to arrive.

While examining the library Percival noticed a book entitled “the ill gentleman,” that appeared to be out of place, and discovered the book wasn’t a book, but a piece of wood carved to look like a book, and weighted on the bottom. Strangely enough another book was out of place, a copy of Mao’s “little red book” smack dab in the middle of the occult section.

The new comers are from an estate auctioneer, members of the 8th Dimension YouTube channel, the man who threatened to cover the sheriff in butter, and a lawyer from Parker, Parker and Parker. Each and every one Percival provides a copy of a Non Disclosure Agreement, to sign, most were hesitant but eventually signed the paper.

Around eight in the evening, the Nun, made dinner for those of us who would like to eat. All of us except for Daniel, the man who accosted the sheriff with the butter, were provided a bologna sandwich and chips. Daniel, was provided a steak dinner, by the Nun, who seems to really like him.

After dinner some of us walk around checking out the various rooms, and their collections. In the smoking room, there appeared to be another person sitting alone, however it was quickly discovered to be an automatronic puppet, that if you placed the strange scrolls in it back, would get up walk around, and tell a story.

The rest of the rooms, contained weapons, art, trinkets, antique furniture, etc.

Our first night passed pretty uneventfully, minus an odd dream about Morna and waking up to the song “Hush” blaring from the folks staying in the room next door.

When Percival went to examine the library, it appeared that someone had been searching for something in the library, as books were off the shelves and piled on tables and nearby stands.

Percival ate some cereal for breakfast and began replacing the books on the shelves and checking to make sure nothing was missing from the collection.

During his inspection he decided to place the wooden book where the “little red book” was located and heard a distinctive click and found that one of the bookshelves hid a secret passage. Which he entered and closed the door behind him, after checking for a way to open the door from inside, which there was. Before closing the door he took the wooden book with him.

Inside the secret passage was a steep wooden staircase the descended into a hallway, which lead to a door.

Opening the door, he found a small office with a desk covered in paperwork, a leather bound book and a glass container that help a grass cloth scroll.

Searching the desk revealed notes attempting to decipher the writing of the scroll, as well and many other things.

Eventually he opened the leather bound book and began to examine it, strangely feeling compelled to continue reading it as it contained information he needed, he still closed the book and left the office.

Before exiting the secret door, Percival listened to make sure there was no one of the other side and quickly exited, losing the secret doorway behind him.

Upon exiting the secret door, Percival ran into Lucien, who he knew by the name Frank Faldo at the time. After a brief discussion, he decided to show “frank” the secret door he found and led him to the office, where they both more fully examined the desk and the papers and items in the office.

After a bit they left and closed up the secret door, and continued on with the business at hand, estimating the estate.

Sometime later percival was approached by the 8th dimension folks and was shown a video of a green blob entering the library. The video was taken late the night before while many folks were sleeping as they had set up a camera. They also informed percival that it’s a trick caused by a a broken camera but that the green blob would have to be a person.

Everyone set about their duties for the day, but sometime we were all asked to gather at the door of the stair and Sister MaryAnne informed us that Montgomery has passed on, and that out services would no longer be needed.

Upon hearing this news the Lawyer Parker, left quickly and others began to make preparations for leaving the next day.

Lucien snuck around and found the room where Montgomery was kept and determined that he had been dead for a few days or weeks already, as well as make up to either make him appear as though he was alive or for someone to appear to be him.

As night came, so did a frightful sight, multitudes of skeletons with cow heads began attacking the vehicles and the couple of people who were trying to leave that night. They stabbed people with splintered bone and smashed windows and made their way inside.

Percival snuck back into the secret passage and closed the door behind him. After a vicious fight Percival exited the secret passage in the hopes that it was over, but quickly learned that even with the doors and windows barricaded the creatures were still slowly able to make their way in.

Eventually Parker appeared and attacked us as well. Daniel killed him. Seven minutes later he reappeared and he was killed again. He showed back up numerous times and was killed, even when we attempted to just subdue him.

After much consternation, and frantic discussion Lucien set fire to the house and Percival grabbed a bunch of books and put them in a box and placed them in a car. When it became evident that we weren’t going through to be getting out of this without figuring out how to truly kill Parker, Percival ran downstairs and grabbed the stone with the rune on it and encouraged Daniel, Lucien and the one surviving member of the 8th Dimension to follow him to the gateway and placed the stone in place and opened the portal that took them all to Romania.
