Military Test Accident
Government has said a guidance system malfunction during a routine test sent a missile off course. The missile landed in Berkley County in an mostly unused office park belonging to Progeny. Authorities say the there were no casualties and minimum damage due to the missile failing to fully detonate thanks to safety overrides and the quick response.
Local reports mention seeing military crews storming into the area shortly afterwards.

Nailing down the absolute exact time people in DC started dying would be difficult as it happened suddenly and took a bit for news to start showing up but going by postings where people mentioned their calls were suddenly cut off it would be roughly around the time Percival was shopping for wipe-boards.--

This starts to fall into a massive rabbit hole of twists and unreliable news.
It would appear Trump's death was not announced right away. This has led to several conspiracy branches:
He is still alive, family is in protective custody, and he is hunting the NWI.
He was assassinated using Covid, or the Vaccine by the NWI.
Pence is dead.
Conspirators sight a robotic CGI nature to recent Pence videos some claim this goes back quite far.
Pence is still continuing to appear in video messages insisting things are under control.
DC
It appears there is some effort to contain and do damage control, including blaming a new covid strand for the mass casualties but there was no way to fully contain the situation.
DC has been isolated with military roadblocks and nobody is being allowed into or out of the area.  
People in the surrounding area confirming there is no movement or communications into or out of the Capital.
People are reporting family and loved ones having gone into the city fine and healthy and suddenly having been told they are in critical condition or passed quickly. Others report having not been told anything and their calls are going unanswered.
A lot of general chaos is breaking out especially as people say they don't even know who to turn to or where to look for answers.
Militia and Prepper groups are all over forums and news sites saying this is it.

Note: There is a whole host of rabbit holes conspiracies that can be gone down in this. This is just the basic info. Reports are blaming everyone and anything with some looping back that this is all part of the Trump's plan to "drain the swamp."
There are also other unconfirmed reports that similar events may have taken place in Moscow and outside of Beijing.

Gas prices are skyrocketing, and price gouging is leading to lots of angry shoppers, shootings, and fights.

Side News: There is a small spike in posting, particularly the more new age woo areas, of people seeking solace and inviting others to at a place called C.O.S.M.O.S. (Center of Sacred Mirrors of Serenity).
It isn't huge news or like thousands are flocking there en masse but it does seem to be popping up as early trending and picking up interest. Among other things, those that claimed to have been there or are currently there say they have effectively stopped covid through meditation and spiritual enlightenment.
