Night at The Dusty Empty
PostSubject: Night at The Dusty    Night at The Dusty EmptyThu Jan 16, 2020 2:19 am

That night it turns out the Dusty Bar across the street is also a favorite destination for a biker group from nearby Martinsburg.
While it is technically a motorcycle gang, "club" is probably a better word for it. It is not a hell's angels sort of thing, more like weekend warriors. Nevertheless, they are very loud with lots of commotion outside. Music blasts from speakers on the bikes, loud pipes, lots of revving, and general drunken shouting. Doors will start slamming as the night grows late and it becomes obvious some are staying in the motel for the night. Rest is difficult to come by.

In Strange News:
There is a quickly trending story on reddit mentions a UK family that owns a chalet in Almisera Spain that came home and found there home in Spain to have been vandalized with various american small kitchen appliances. Very few details are available and it is presented more as a, "has anyone heard of this happening before" sort of thing.

The Modern Stone Henge being set up near the tower by Morna
While not completed yet, enough is up on the "modern stone henge" piece across from Percival's tower that it is gaining some attention, especially on NextDoor.
Neighbor are mostly complaining. Most of the complaints are about its dark obsidian color scheme. Words are being thrown around, Uninviting, scary, Egyptian Hell, and "that thing makes me want to walk in the other direction." One person says they have been walking their dog in the area for years "...and is it really any worse than the recent pile of trash bags behind the tower."

Art critic Meredith Kool has weighed in early and called it another disaster for M. Demarkov and
Sleepwalker Underground Arts Association. Kool does say the stone work itself is expertly done by outstanding craftsmen in their field but otherwise the piece is ominous, foreboding, uninteresting, and fails to invite a lasting interest.

Maggie Ginestra, another critic, has also weighed in, and this time more positively. She calls it a reclamation of darkness and space that plays with our preconceived notions of modern art and spaciousness. "Everything about the piece speaks to weight and the heaviness of weight, be it physical, emotional, and spiritual." She goes on to say, "The piece is claimed to be about connecting people, and connection brings peace. That can be a scary thing, it takes strength, inner strength, to truly be willing to step forward and make a real human connection and this piece represents and requires participants to find that strength to move forward and dare to connect with each other on a deeper level."
